The Story Behind the Art

If you’ve spent any time in North Georgia or the Carolinas, you’ve probably met one of the locals.

“Local Resident” is inspired by the mountain communities where black bears are less of a wildlife sighting and more of a neighbor with questionable dining habits.

I love to paint them. This fellow looked a little more thoughtful than mischievous, quietly blending into the landscape as if he belonged there - which, of course, he does.

And to answer your question is I have yet to see one. I’m convinced I must be walkiong bear repellent.
